I completely agree that there’s nothing wrong with being a stripper, but I have to correct you - pole dancing originated as a form of gymnastics, an athletic sport for athletes. Only recently has it been introduced into gentlemen’s clubs and has been turned into something that is associated with strippers. Most times when people compare pole dancing to stripping, they are doing it in a negative way that does not recognize the amount of talent and hard work that goes into learning pole tricks. Many times after telling people that I pole dance, their immediate reaction is “oh, so you’re a stripper or something?” which again, nothing wrong with being a stripper, but it’s frustrating when people don’t see past that.

It really makes me sad when people don’t recognize the hard work that is needed to achieve these things, and they only see it as “you’re a stripper.” As a pole dancer, it is hard to get people to take you seriously at first. And that’s what my caption was trying to say.
